SouthWestern Association
www.southwesternassn.com
Founded in 1889, the
SouthWestern Association (SWA) was established by a
progressive group of independent hardware and farm
implement/mercantile dealers to help increase their
profitability and solve common problems. While the
Association's scope of interest has evolved over time,
the basic concept of working together for the common
good remains the same.
Today, the Association is a source for ideas to meet the
needs of member businesses. Working in the areas of
legislation, communication and education, the
Association is recognized as a stabilizing force that
encourages fairness in each of the industries it serves.
SWA effectively supports
members' day-to-day operations, works with members to
consistently acquire and retain the best employees for
their businesses, and creates high impact dealer
advocacy, representing members on key policy and program
issues. Contact SouthWestern Association at

Texas Association of Residential Care Communities
www.tarc-ltc.org
Texas Association of
Residential Care Communities (TARC) is a 501(c)(6) Texas
non-profit corporation, Federal ID No. 75-2477370. We
are a voluntary membership organization representing
providers of Assisted Living, Nursing Homes, and
Retirement Community Living. Our members are large and
small, proprietary and non-profit. The Association
concentrates on three major areas:
-
Legislation: Our chief lobbyist has over 30 years
experience effectively lobbying the Texas Legislature.
We maintain a consistent year around dialog and contact
with members in order to build relationships and educate
them on industry practices and problems.
-
Regulations: We interact on a consistent basis with
the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS)
and the Health and Human Services Commission, working on
language in regulations and practices. TARC members are
appointed to advisory committees within the Departments.
-
Communication: We publish a monthly "Business Update"
which providers the members with an up-to-date resume of
what's going on in the industry. In times of crisis or
emergency, we send "Special Bulletins." During the
legislative session, we send regular resumes of all of
the bills we are working on and their up-to-the-minute
status. Members are able to communicate directly with
the executive director at any time via telephone or
email.
